Chase’s Outdoor School for Boys (and Girls)

*Classes may be designated for JUST boys, JUST girls, or a combination of both

Who it’s for:

  • Boys and girls ages 8(ish) - 14(ish)

  • Active boys and girls who are excited for life

  • Anyone with a hunger for the outdoors

  • Those who love to be wild and free

  • Children who love to learn through experience and hands on

  • Kids who want to be dangerous, but don’t know how to do it safely

  • Children who would love to learn to go camping and experience life outside, but may not have anyone to show them the way

What it is:

3 Day outdoor skills course from 9am-3pm. (This is NOT an overnight event)

Outdoor skills include (but are not limited to):

  • Wood carving

  • wood chopping

  • outdoor cooking

  • wood craft and camping skills

  • animal processing

  • trap building

  • fire-making

  • knife safety, use and maintenance

  • ...and more Dangerous Stuff for Kids!

  • Water bottle

  • Appropriate outdoor clothing

  • Good, close toed shoes

  • A camp chair

  • Lunch/ snacks (whatever you need to be comfortable for the day)

  • A knife (bring your own, purchase one on our website, or purchase one the day of)

What to Bring to Outdoor School:

  • Parents are encouraged, welcomed, and invited to stay!

  • If you have younger kids that would like to participate, please contact us directly

  • Dates and locations subject to change based on availability

Other Important Information:

  • This is an outdoor skills event. There are many risks involved. We are learning real skills with real risks. Your child MAY get cut. They MAY get burned. They WILL have fun!

  • We will take every precaution to make sure that every safety measure is taken, but ultimately precautions can only help PREVENT and not ELIMINATE accidents.

  • Possible injury is part of learning these outdoor skills. We make every effort to keep your child as safe as possible, while engaging in these activities.

Chase is an incredible educator whose dedication and passion for teaching primitive skills and outdoor education truly shine through in everything he does. With a rich background that includes time with Kids Kamp, the Boy Scouts, and various primitive skills gatherings, Chase brings a unique and diverse set of experiences to his role as an instructor.

He has a special knack for helping children face challenges and build resilience, firmly believing that character is forged through hands-on learning and mastering outdoor skills. Chase’s work is particularly impactful with troubled youth, as he harnesses the power of nature to guide them toward positive growth and development.

Whether through his own outdoor programs or his participation in conferences and events, Chase is a constant source of inspiration, encouraging young people to grow into confident, capable, and responsible individuals.

About Tamara:

Tamra Hyde has been teaching primitive living and wilderness survival skills, and backcountry guiding since 2006, independently as well as for 4 companies and in many places.

She has been nomadic for 7 years and lives in a converted school bus. Her life was dramatically transformed through immersive experience deep in nature and she's passionate about faciliting that awakening for others.
