Life in Canvas Camp…

  • Little School on the Prairie Family Camp is an immersive camping experience for the whole family! Your family will have the chance to delve into the skills, trades and lifestyles of The Little House on the Prairie books! During your 4 days with us, your family will experience a community oriented, skill based, family environment in which your family will explore, learn and grow TOGETHER!

We require all participants to dress in period correct clothing to create a Little House ambiance for us all to enjoy.

This is a drug and alcohol free family event.

  • We offer space for families to camp in their own accommodations. We have spaces for Canvas Tents, Tipi’s, Modern Tents, Car Camping and more. In main camp we have frontier-style tents to help maintain the frontier ambiance.

We provide breakfast and dinner similar to what was eaten in The Little House on the Prairie books. Food is simple frontier fare (think soups, stews, chilis and porridge). Please bring your own bowls, plates and utensils. Please bring snacks and lunch as needed to get you through the day. We also provide porta-potties and water for all participants. We do ask you to pack your own trash out with you.

  • Breakfast and Dinner are provided for all participants during our time together.

Our Menu is carefully designed to replicate foods commonly eaten in Pioneer times. These meals are simple and reflect what was eaten by the Ingalls family. Plan on porridge for breakfast and one pot meals for dinner (stew, chilies and soups).

Bring your own bowls, plates and utensils. Wash stations will be provided.

*If you have dietary restrictions, please consider that while packing.

  • Our famous “No Nellie” policy is scientifically proven to ensure a good time is had by all! We have spent countless hours in the Little School House with our team verifying its efficacy!

What is a “Nellie” you might ask? Great question! Nellie was the bully in the Little House book series and on the TV series. She often felt entitled. She thought that things revolved around her.

Little School on the Prairie family camp is a magic space because we work to make it magic. How can you help add to the magic? Engage with someone you don’t know, help a neighbor, help a child, enjoy the simple things, and participate as much as possible in the social activities. This event is ran and taught by volunteers who want to share their passion for the skills they teach. Please be respectful.
